Committees:-
Samaj is active since then. AGM is being held every two years and New Committee is elected at every AGM.
Members have actively worked in various positions. All their efforts are really applaudable. The list of the members who were part of the committee is very long, individual names are not mentioned as those who were not part of the committee also worked with lots of enthusiasm. Some members are active in the committee since inception. Samaj is grateful to one and all.
Festivals:-
Festivals like Holi, Navaratri (9days), Gujarati New Year, Diwali Party, Bhai bij etc are celebrated by the whole community together.
Other social functions like Dandiya Night etc are also arranged for entire Indian community to participate.
Our youngsters always participate in the cultural activities and functions organized by Botswana Hindu Society. Members of the Gujarati community have and are also serving on the Botswana Hindu Society committee.
Charity Projects:-
In the past BGS raised P 350,000.00 for the renovation of Hindu Crematorium. Some of our members were major contributors in building the existing Botswana Hindu Temple Hall, during the year 1983/84.
In the year 2016, being 50th year of Botswana’s Independence, Committee undertook a local charity project. It was decided to build a small house for a needy family in Malotwana village near Mochudi. Members were requested to donate any amount however maximum limit was set @ P 10,000.
With the generous contributions from the members from the membership, this house was successfully completed and was officially handed over on the 3rd December 2016. Samaj is thankful to Honorable Vice President (then) of Republic of Botswana Mr. Mokgweetsi Masisi who graced this occasion as a Chief Guest.
Committee was overwhelmed for the fact that the contribution from the members was so good that Samaj could build one more house for the needy family.
This project is also on now in Moshupa for a family, identified by H.E. The President of Botswana. This is expected to be completed by June 2020.
Entertainment Projects:-
For Charity projects, Samaj raised funds by organizing entertainment events
· Gujarati Comedy Drama – Aavjo Vahla Fari Malishu in November 2001.
· Music Group from India – Mukhtar Shah & Group in October 2006.
Our latest charity fundraiser and entertainment event is in February 2020. We have the most favorite Gujarati comedy drama from India under the umbrella of Siddharth Randeria Productions.……Bluffmaster Gujjubhai.
